- Carmen Remedios “Ivy” Hotchkiss Durano was born on July 29, 1978 to parents Ramon “Nito” Durano III and Elizabeth Limguaco Hotchkiss.
- She studied Business Administration Major in Marketing at College of Notre Dame, Belmont, CA USA for three (3) years and graduated Business Management at Centre for International Education in the year 1998.
- She also finished her Master’s Degree in Development Management and Good Governance at the University of Makati.
- Durano is also a solo parent blessed with 1 daughter.
- Serving the public has truly been her calling, committedly serving the public for 23 years already.
- Started her political stint as barangay captain of Brgy. Guinsay in year 2002 where she was also elected as Liga ng mga Barangay President for two (2) terms.
- With the intention to serve the entire people of Danao, Hon. Durano ran for a higher position in year 2007 and was then elected as Sangguniang Panlungsod Member of the City of Danao. During her time as city councilor of Danao City, she was also elected as Philippine Councilor’s League (PCL) President, earning her a seat as ex-officio member of the Provincial Board in the Province of Cebu from year 2010-2016.
- After exhausting her three (3) consecutive terms as city councilor of Danao from year 2007-2016, Hon. Durano served as Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Department Head of the Province of Cebu from year 2016-2019.
- Durano decided to return to her beloved hometown after her term in the Capitol ended. She was once again elected as City Councilor of Danao City in 2022, handling the following committees:
- Committee on Finance, Budget and Appropriation
- Committee on Tourism, Beautification and External Affairs
- Committee on Barangay Affairs and Rural Development
- In her 3-year term as a returning City Councilor of Danao City, Hon. Durano was able to passed a total of 91 ordinances and 161 resolutions including the following:
- An Ordinance Institutionalizing “Danao Here And Now” As The Official Tourism Brand Of Danao City, Prescribing Guidelines For The Use Thereof And For Other Purposes”;
- Institutionalization of Dayung Danao as a Community Leadership Program of the City of Danao;
- Solo Parents’ Ordinance of Danao City;
- Comprehensive Danao City Tourism Code
- Updated Danao City Youth Code.
- Danao City Sports Code.
- Gender and Development Code of Danao City (GAD Code)
- Children’s Code of Danao City
- An Ordinance Providing for the Danao City Omnibus Revenue Code as Amended
- Finally, Hon. Durano was recently elected as the Vice Mayor of Danao City.
