HON. EDMUND T. LAO
Hon. Edmund T. Lao is a lawyer. Graduated from University of San Carlos for his baccalaureate – Political Science Major and for Bachelor of Laws. He traces his roots to Maasin City, Southern Leyte but grew up in Butuan City, Caraga.
Amusingly, he had consistent streak in governance. Hon. Lao was a student council officer in his high school, aside from joining the basketball team and Corp Commander in his CMT. He enjoys his recollection of getting a 98% for his NCEE.
In college, he was student representative at the Supreme Student Government| at USC as well as at the Lex Circle, the law student at the USC College of Law. In 2016, he was allowed the opportunity to join the state under the Bakud Party through Vice-Mayor.
He had worked in Manila but mostly in Cebu with early works among farmers and the trade unions. He has various units in graduate studies involving labor studies, development and governance.
He likes to collect books and materials on history, politics and philosophy such as post-capitalism. He is married with two children.
Where he stands today, he echoes the words of Jane Fonda that life now is more of relay, not sprint nor marathon. It is about running with passing on the baton with co-workers and friends, and the younger generation the lessons and musings for better conditions for people and individuals.
In the near future, he looks forward to more travels among different cultures, and more time to enjoy great books.
