Danao City, Cebu – The Danao City Anti-Drug Abuse Office (CADAO) and the City Health Services Office (CHSO) have received certification from the Department of Health – Central Visayas Center for Health Development for the city’s successful implementation of a Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation Program (CBDRP).
The certification affirms that Danao City has complied with the minimum standards set by the DOH for the treatment and rehabilitation of Persons Who Use Drugs (PWUDs) assessed to be at moderate risk for drug dependency or with mild substance use disorder. The certificate was awarded in July 3, 2025.
“This recognition is a reflection of our sustained efforts to prioritize health-based and compassionate approaches in our anti-drug programs,” said Mayor Nito Durano.
“Through community-based rehabilitation, we are not only helping individuals recover, we are strengthening families and building a more resilient Danao.”
The CBDRP is a localized, multi-sectoral initiative that provides PWUDs with structured support and services within their communities. These include medical assessments, psychological interventions, values formation, skills training, and aftercare programs- all coordinated to aid in recovery and reintegration.
This certification adds additional motivation to the local governance of Danao City as it reinforces the city government’s commitment to public health and human rights by providing a compassionate, evidence-based approach to addressing substance use.
The City, under the Durano Administration, is serious not only about reinforcement but also about rehabilitation and reintegration.
The City Government remains committed to sustaining and enhancing its drug rehabilitation services in alignment with national guidelines and the evolving needs of every Danawanon Family.
