DANAO CITY – The City Government of Danao holds an Honoring Ceremony today, June 24,
2025, at 11:00 AM, at the Legislative Session Hall, to formally recognize the invaluable service
of its outgoing councilors and step-up legislative officials.
The event highlights the public service legacy of four end-term 17th Sangguniang Panlungsod
Members who have served the city from 2016 to 2025: Hon. Jaime A. Duterte Jr., Hon. Kristine
C. Gorre, Hon. Leonilo C. Canson and Hon. Atty. Edmund T. Lao.
During the ceremony, plaques of recognition and ring of public service excellence are given to the
honorees, accompanied by heartfelt messages of thanks for their dedication, leadership, and years
of legislative service.
In his opening remarks, City Councilor Don Roel Arias emphasized the lasting contributions of
the honorees: “They have lent their voices to policy, their hands to service, and their hearts to the
people. Whether in crafting ordinances, advocating for programs, mediating in disputes, or simply
listening to a Danawanon’s concern, they have shown what it means to lead with empathy and
integrity. Over the course of their terms, they have witnessed both triumphs and trials… They rose
above the obstacles, worked together hand-in-hand, and stayed true to their mandate, that is to
serve the public with honor and transparency.”
Also recognized are the Step-Up Legislative Officials, newly ascending to key roles within the
council: Vice Mayor and now Mayor-elect Hon. Ramon D. Durano III and City Councilor now
Vice Mayor-elect Hon. Carmen Remedios H. Durano.
Mayor-elect Nito Durano shared in his message: “The Durano brand of leadership rooted in
transparency, integrity and tangible progress has been our guiding compass. With your trust, we
brought this leadership to life… and as I step into the role of Mayor, I commit to elevate the
Durano brand further. This is leadership that serves with impact, builds bridges between sectors,
and lifts every part of the community.”
Vice Mayor-elect Ivy Durano also gave a heartfelt reflection: “This moment is not simply a
personal milestone—it is a celebration of trust, of continuity, of legacy, and of love. I would like
to express my deepest gratitude to the people of Danao who have given me their trust, their voice,
and their confidence. Every vote cast in the last election was not just a mark of support—it was a
call to serve with deeper commitment, humility, and heart.”
This symbolic gathering affirms Danao City’s commitment to honoring legacy, ensuring
continuity, and embracing new leadership in the service of the public.
The 18th Sangguniang Panlungsod Inaugural Session is set on July 1, 2025 with six new City
councilors-elect joining.
