Danao City to Mark 64th Charter Anniversary with Honors, Music and Community Celebration
Danao City is set to celebrate its 64th Charter Anniversary this Saturday, June 7, 2025 with a full day of events that recognize the excellence of its people and express gratitude for the city’s continuing progress.
As part of its long-standing tradition, the Garbo sa Danao Awarding Ceremony will take place at 1:00 PM at the Danao City Civic Center, where 478 outstanding Danawanons will be honored for their achievements in academics, board and bar examinations, sports, and taxation. These awardees represent the city’s pride and potential, with each one contributing to Danao’s dynamic growth.
Governor-elect Pamela “Pam” Baricuatro will grace the event as the guest speaker, joining city officials led by Mayor Mix Durano and Vice Mayor Nito Durano in recognizing the awardees. The Garbo sa Danao program has been a cornerstone of the city’s Charter Day celebrations, consistently evolving to highlight the diverse talents and contributions of Danawanons across generations.
In the evening, the city will shift into celebration mode with a free Bisrock concert featuring Missing Filemon and Danao City’s Interstate Band at 7:00 PM at the Durano-Macapagal Boardwalk. The event, sponsored by Vice Mayor Nito Durano, serves as a thanksgiving gesture to the people of Danao for their continued support, resilience and unity throughout the years.
As Danao marks 64 years of charterhood, the celebration goes beyond a single day. The City Government has prepared a month-long series of events and activities for June, including sports tournaments, community caravans, concerts, talent showcases, and more. These initiatives reflect the city’s commitment to inclusive and people-centered development—a celebration by the people, for the people.
This year’s theme, “Danao City is More Than Ready: Kalambuan Mu-Sidlak, Here and Now,” captures the city’s forward momentum and the collective spirit that powers it. As Danao City continues to rise, thrive, and lead, the Charter Anniversary stands as both a celebration of the past and a takeoff point toward a future full of promise—proof that for Danawanons, progress isn’t just on the horizon, it’s already in motion, HERE AND NOW.
