The inaugural Community Leaders Assembly in Danao City,
also known as ‘Panagtigum sa Dayung’, takes place marking a significant gathering of local leaders,
thousands of Dayung members, and honored guest Senator Imee Marcos.
In her speech, Senator Imee expresses her admiration for the City Government of Danao’s Community
Leadership Program through DAYUNG, stating, “I am delighted with the purok system (DAYUNG).
The leadership that derives from below, that knows the face of each and everyone, knows how to reach
and repeatedly contact them to ensure that the services and goods that the government needs to
distribute are adequately received by the rightful beneficiaries.”
On the other hand, Mayor Mix Durano lauds the dedication of Dayung leaders, acknowledging their
vital role in extending the administration’s reach. “You are the extension of our administration. It is
worth knowing that 50% of our community leaders belong to the youth sector. You have a bigger role
in shaping and reshaping our policies and programs. You bring vibrancy and dynamism in our
governance. Through your help and diligence, you ensure that our city’s programs and services reach
every corner of our community,” Mayor Durano remarks.
This assembly not only celebrates the dedication and diligence of the Dayung leaders who consistently
support the local government in providing exemplary services to the Danawanon families but also
reinforces the Dayung community’s warm support for Senator Imee’s legislative agenda and
advocacies.
In addition to showing support for Danao City Government’s Dayung, Senator Imee’s visit also marks
the celebration of Vice Mayor Nito Durano’s birthday. Despite scheduling conflicts that delayed her
visit originally planned for June 7, Senator Marcos makes it a point to attend, honoring the enduring
friendship between the Marcoses and the Duranos beyond politics, HERE AND NOW.
