The City Government of Danao proudly announces the official
opening of the Danao City Health Services Office Birthing Center, providing round-the-clock
services to the mothers of Danao.
Under Durano Leadership, the City Government is committed in prioritizing maternal healthcare,
especially for expectant mothers. Following the mandate of the Department of Health, it is crucial
for pregnant women to deliver in licensed birthing facilities or hospitals with trained personnel for
safer childbirth.
The newly inaugurated birthing center, which can cater up to three patients simultaneously in 24
hours, adds to the city’s healthcare infrastructure, offering additional facilities for Danawanon
mothers. Equipped to provide timely and affordable Basic Emergency Maternal Obstetric and
Newborn Care, the center, ensures comprehensive services tailored to maternal and newborn
needs.
Key services offered at the Birthing Center include:
1. Normal Delivery Management, catering to pregnancies within the appropriate gestational age
and without complications.
2. Postpartum and Newborn Care, including Crede’s Prophylaxis, cord dressing, immunizations,
and newborn screening.
3. Family Planning Services, providing various contraceptive methods to support family planning
choices.
4. STI and HIV Screening for comprehensive maternal health management.
The Birthing Center is accessible to all Danao City residents, except for those who have certain
medical conditions that may necessitate referral to a higher level of care, as outlined by the Danao
City Government.
Funded through the Health Facility Enhancement Program (HFEP) of the Department of Health
Central Visayas Center for Health Development 7, the facility and its state-of-the-art equipment
represent a total investment of P7 million. Close collaboration between the Department of Health,
the City Engineering Office, and additional funding from the City Government of Danao facilitated
the successful realization of this vital healthcare initiative.
With this addition, there are now 18 local-government-operated Birthing Centers in Danao City.
