PROMOTING ACTIVE PARTICIPATION IN GOVERNANCE: DANAO CITY LAUNCHES “PANAGTIGUM”
January 11, 2023- As an integral part of the MIKS Program (Mahinungdanong Impormasyon, Kaayuhan ug mga Serbisyo alang sa katawhan), the City Government of Danao, through its Barangay Affairs Office (BAO), recently launched “PANAGTIGUM: Barangay Convention of Purok Officers” in Barangay Maslog with the aim of maximizing and strengthening the purok system and active participation in governance.
The convention brought together 300 purok officers in the area, where they were informed of their roles and responsibilities and educated about the nature of the purok system.
In addition to the in-depth discussions, the convention featured an open forum where purok officers were able to voice their concerns and suggestions to city officials, providing valuable insight into the needs of the community. This information will be used by the city government to create, revise, or amend government programs and services to better serve the Danawanons.
The convention was led by Mayor Hon. Mix Durano and Vice Mayor Hon. Nito Durano, along with DCIPC-OIC Red Durano and members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Hon. Ivy Durano, Hon. Don Roel Arias, Hon. Danny Roble, Hon. Calvin Tuadles and Hon. Sinforiano Calderon, as part of the city government’s efforts to involve the community more closely in the city’s decision-making process.
Overall, the event was a resounding success, providing a valuable opportunity for local government officials and purok officers to come together and work towards a more inclusive and collaborative governance.
Following the successful convention in Barangay Maslog, there will be a schedule of visits to other barangays to continue the development and improvement of the purok system and build a more effective and responsive Danao City Government.
