The highly anticipated national I.D registration, formally known as the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) has officially started in Danao City Civic Center.

The opening ceremony was personally attended by City Vice Mayor Thomas Mark “Mix” Durano, City Councilors Hon. Danny Roble and Hon. Edmund Lao, PSA Cebu Chief Statistical Specialist Firmo Diputado, City Civil Registrar Roland Perez and other employees from the Philippine Statistics Authority-Cebu, Danao City Hall, Land Bank of the Philippines and National ID Registration.

What transpired is the gradual and small-scale rollout of the second step of the three-step process for the national ID.

The Step 1 or also called PhilSys “pre-registration” already happened last year in Danao City. During that time, the PSA enumerators targeting low-income households went door to door to collect required information.

Those who completed the Step 1 or the pre-registration were given an appointment registration number (ARN) and were scheduled in batches for the step 2. However, the step 2 was further delayed due to technical difficulties faced by the PSA.

After months of waiting, the agency has finally released a new set of schedules for Danawanons who already completed the pre-registration. (see photo below)

If you are one of those pre-registered Danawanons, the Step 2 requires you to bring your ARN, valid ID and birth certificate. The whole step 2 registration process involves the validation of supporting documents and capturing biometric information, such as fingerprints, iris scans and front-facing photographs.

For Danawanons who already completed the pre-registration but don’t have schedules yet, let’s just wait for the next schedule to be posted by the PSA. While for the rest of the Danawanons who have not been listed and pre-registered, don’t worry, all of us will be catered soon.
