HALAD KANG MANO AMON 2020
Every December 24, the City Government of Danao commemorates the Birth Anniversary of Ramon Durano Sr. widely known for his nickname “Mano Amon”.
Mano Amon is known to be the grand old man of Danao City, notable for his greatest contribution in making Danao as a charter city.
As a way of celebrating his birth, a wreath-laying ceremony is annually done by the employees of Danao City Government and its Barangay Officials.
Alongside with this, Halad kang Mano Amon Run, which is the second longest fun run activity in Cebu is also conducted yearly. However, because of the COVID19 pandemic, the local IATF and the Danao City Sports Commission decided to just hold a non-contact sport to strictly adhere with the government protocols.
Thus, instead of a fun run, a bike fest coined as the “Halad kang Mano Amon Bike Fest 2020” was staged.
To show support and encourage the participants, Mayor Nito Durano, Vice Mayor Mix Durano and former Congressman Red Durano personally joined and led the bikers during the event.
The three of them are all bike lovers and are known to be the strong foundation of cycling and mountain biking in Northern Cebu.
826 participants all around Cebu had registered and accepted this challenging yet fun-filled sporting activity.
This Bike Fest doesn’t just promote a healthy lifestyle, it also connects Danao City with its neighboring cities and municipalities.
Since this is just a fun ride and not a race, no winner was declared. However, there were several winners on the concluded virtual raffle draw as shown below:
