DANAO CITY’S INDEX CRIMES DECLINED

October 9, 2020 – Index Crimes in the city declined by 87% for the third quarter of this year compared to the same period last year.
Records from the Danao City Police Station, which were presented by their newly-deployed Officer-in-Charge PMAJ Maria Theresa Macatangay during the city’s live EOC briefing last October 9, revealed this significant drop wherein only eight (8) index crimes were reported for the months of July to September 2020 in contrast to the 63 recorded crimes for the same months in year 2019.
Index Crimes, as defined by the Philippine National Police (PNP), involve serious crimes against persons such as murder, homicide, physical injury and rape, and crimes against property such as robbery, theft, carnapping and motornapping.
Aside from the Index Crimes, the decrease in the city’s recorded cases under the PSI and Special Laws, and the minor increase in the city’s Non-Index Crimes by 38.9 % were also presented.
Non-index crimes are all other illegal acts or violations of special laws and ordinances such as gambling, illegal drugs and illegal possession of firearms.
Even though there was a slight increase in the city’s Non-index crimes, according to PMAJ Macatangay, this is something not to be worried about since the said increase was just a result of the police intensive operations against these illegal acts.
Overall, Danao City’s total crime incidents declined by 48.2 %.
For PMAJ Macatangay, the eminent drop of the city’s total crimes was because of the Danawanons’ support and cooperation. She added that nothing is impossible if we all work together.
