April 13, 2026 (Cebu Provincial Government)— The City Government of Danao formally presented its approved Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) 2023–2032 and Revised Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance before the 17th Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Cebu during its regular session at the Cebu Provincial Capitol Session Hall, in line with SP Resolution No. 1084-2026.

Leading the city’s delegation are Vice Mayor Ivy Durano, together with members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Councilors Glee Delicano, Roland Perez, Pangging Arias, Calvin Tuadles, Adano Roble, Jojo Roble and City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) OIC Ramon Gorre Jr. who outlined the city’s updated development framework anchored on sustainable growth, spatial efficiency, and long-term urban direction.

The CLUP and zoning ordinance of the City had earlier been enacted at the city level and reviewed by the Provincial Government of Cebu.

The presentation marks a key step in the final approval and endorsement process, ensuring alignment with provincial standards and development priorities.

In a message delivered by Vice Mayor Durano, Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano III emphasized that the CLUP serves as a critical roadmap for Danao’s growth—guiding economic expansion, attracting investments, generating employment, strengthening food security, and expanding social services, while safeguarding environmental integrity.

The mayor also underscored the city’s role in contributing to the broader development of Cebu Province, noting that Danao City’s strategic growth can help ease congestion from the tri-cities—  Cebu City, Mandaue City, and Lapu-Lapu City—  by creating new economic opportunities in mid-northern Cebu.

For his part, CPDO OIC Gorre highlighted the CLUP’s role in disaster risk reduction and environmental protection, particularly in light of recent experiences from Typhoon Tino.

He noted that the plan establishes clear land-use policies to prevent settlements in high-risk areas, reinforcing community safety and resilience.

The initiative reflects Danao City’s continuing commitment under the Durano administration to sound urban planning, responsible land management, and inclusive development—  ensuring that progress remains balanced, sustainable, and responsive to the needs of both present and future generations.

Danao’s approved CLUP will serve as the present guiding framework for the city’s policies, planning, and implementation.
