April 10, 2026 (Danao City)— Reinforcing its position as a ‘Gateway of Opportunities’ and a hub for innovation, the City Government of Danao, under the leadership of Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano III, signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with AIRBILITY Inc. of the Republic of Korea and KILSA Global Pte. Ltd. of Singapore to implement a Drone Pilot Training Program.
The ceremonial signing at Danao City Hall, is conducted alongside an online meeting with AIRBILITY Inc. COO and Co-founder Minyoung Ahn and KILSA Global Senior Managing Partner Sean Tan, marking the start of a six-month trainers training program that will equip local talents with advanced drone operation skills.
This initiative underscores the Durano Administration’s aggressive push for its connectivity agenda, forging strategic alliances with international partners to bring cutting-edge technology, knowledge transfer, and economic opportunities directly to the city.
“In this time of uncertainty— from pandemics and natural disasters to the global energy crisis— we assure our constituents that Danao City is moving forward with strength and innovation,” Mayor Durano said.
The program is a key component of the city’s efforts to enhance disaster and calamity preparedness, combining modern technology with capacity-building. Graduates of the program will be certified by Korean experts and will be eligible to operate advanced, including military-grade, drone systems to be provided by AIRBILITY Inc.
Beyond strengthening emergency response capabilities such as disaster assessment and search and rescue, the initiative is expected to generate new livelihood and career pathways for Danawanons, particularly in emerging technology-driven industries.
The partnership further expands Danao City’s growing network of global collaborations, including ties with cities in Japan, Vietnam, and China, as well as organizations such as the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). With the inclusion of AIRBILITY Inc. and KILSA Global, Danao continues to position itself not only within Cebu and the Visayas, but across the nation, as a forward-looking, globally connected city.
Mayor Durano extends his appreciation to AIRBILITY Inc. CEO Jinmo Lee and KILSA Philippines Country Manager Paul Briones for their commitment in bringing the partnership to fruition after months of coordination.
The city government is set to roll out the training program in the coming months, with qualified Danawanons encouraged to participate, further empowering the community through skills development and innovation.
“This is an opportunity for our people,” Mayor Durano emphasized. “Let us rise to the challenge— this is for you and for Danao.”
