DANAO CITY, Cebu (March 20, 2026) โ€” The City Government of Danao formally enters into a Sisterhood Agreement with the City Government of San Juan, Metro Manila, marking a significant step toward strengthened inter-city collaboration and mutual development. The ceremonial signing takes place at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Meeting Room, Danao City Hall.

Leading the City of Danao is City Mayor Ramon โ€œNitoโ€ D. Durano III, together with Vice Mayor Ivy Durano and members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, as they welcome the San Juan City delegation headed by Mayor Francisco Javier M. Zamora, accompanied by San Juan City Councilors Hon. Ervic Vijandre and Hon. James Yap, for this historic engagement.

In his opening message, Mayor Nito highlights that the partnership reflects the direction of his administration toward stronger linkages and expanded opportunities.

โ€œAt the start of this term, I launched our 5-point connectivity agenda, which includes widening our cityโ€™s networkโ€”both abroad and at home. We are hopeful that this partnership between the City of Danao and the City of San Juan will bear fruit for the mutual benefit of our people and for the continuing development of both our cities.โ€

During the program, Vice Mayor Ivy Durano presents Danao Cityโ€™s tourism initiatives, emphasizing the cityโ€™s vision of becoming a premier destination for sustainable, community-based, and experience-driven tourism, supported by strong governance and policy frameworks, while an audio-visual presentation further highlights the cityโ€™s culture, opportunities, and identity.

Meanwhile, Mayor Zamora, in his message, expresses appreciation for the warm welcome and underscores the value of sharing best practices and learning from one another. He also conveys his admiration for Danao Cityโ€™s tourism potential and affirms San Juan Cityโ€™s willingness to support and help promote Danao as a growing destination.

The Sisterhood Agreement establishes a framework for cooperation between the two cities, promoting the exchange of knowledge, resources, and best practices to enhance governance and support inclusive growth.

Under the agreement, both cities commit to collaborate in key areas such as tourism, trade and industry, science and technology, culture and arts, urban planning and development, education, sports development, environmental protection, public health, and social services.

More than a formal agreement, the sisterhood between Danao and San Juan symbolizes a shared vision for progress, innovation, and inclusive development.

And with this milestone, Danao City continues to move forward as a dynamic and forward-looking local government unitโ€”expanding its existing network of partnerships from international engagements in Vietnam and Japan to its local sisterhood with the Province of Ilocos Norteโ€”driving progress, strengthening governance, creating opportunities, and improving the quality of life of its constituents, HERE AND NOW. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’™
