March 16, 2026β The Danao City Development Council convenes today at the Danao City Evacuation and Training Center to deliberate on key development priorities that will shape the cityβs infrastructure and community programs in the coming years under the leadership of Mayor Nito Durano and Vice Mayor Ivy Durano.
During the meeting, the City Planning and Development Office OIC Ramon Gorre Jr., presented a series of priority projects funded through the Cityβs 20% Development Fund, including road concreting across several barangays, drainage and flood mitigation systems, slope protection in landslide-prone areas, and the construction of a Livelihood Skills Development Center in Barangay Guinacot.
These initiatives are designed to improve mobility, strengthen disaster resilience, and expand economic opportunities for communities.
Complementing these are major infrastructure projects supported by the Cebu Provincial Government, such as the planned GuinacotβTaboc bridge, new multi-purpose buildings, evacuation centers, and improvements to the cityβs waterworks systemβ further reinforcing inter-barangay connectivity and public service delivery.
Meanwhile, DPWH district office also presented its proposed 2027 Annual Investment Program (AIP) for Danao City amounting to over Php900M.
Mayor Durano emphasized that these projects form part of the cityβs Connectivity Agenda, a development framework that prioritizes infrastructure linking communities, strengthening resilience after disasters, and opening greater opportunities for the people of Danao City.
He also highlighted the support of the national government in accelerating rehabilitation works for facilities damaged by Typhoon Tino, particularly slope protection projects in vulnerable areas.
Aside from DPWH attendance to the council meeting, it also gathered barangay leaders, civil society representatives, department heads of the city government, and partner national agenciesβ reflecting a collaborative approach to ensuring that development initiatives are aligned, strategic, and responsive to the needs of communities.
Through sustained infrastructure investments and coordinated planning, the city government continues to position Danao as a gateway of opportunities, where stronger connectivity translates to safe, secured and sustainable communities, improved services, and broader economic prospects for the Pamilyang Danawanon.
