February 28, 2026 (Yen Bai, Vietnam)β€” A new chapter in international collaboration unfolds as the Danao City delegation holds high-level talks with leaders of Lao Cai, advancing cooperation on environmental protection, sustainable tourism, education, and trade.

Leading the mission are Mayor Nito Durano and Vice Mayor Ivy Durano, who meet with Vice Chairperson Nguyen Thanh Sinh and key officials from the Departments of Foreign Affairs, Finance, Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Education and Training.

The engagement comes at a meaningful moment as the Philippines and Vietnam mark 50 years of diplomatic relationsβ€” an enduring partnership strengthened by shared ASEAN goals.

Mayor Durano conveys the β€œwarmest regard of the people of Danao City” and expresses gratitude to the Embassy of Vietnam in the Philippines, led by Ambassador Lai Thai Binh, for facilitating the visit.

He underscores Danao’s strengths in modern agriculture, skilled workforce, and emerging eco-tourism potentialβ€” areas aligned with Lao Cai’s own assets.

With a population of 1.8 million, Lao Cai is rich in mineral resources such as copper and iron, renowned for tea production, and home to world-class tourist attractions that welcomed 10.5 million visitors in 2025β€” in which 1.5 million is internation including a growing Filipino market.

Infrastructure upgrades, including expressway expansion and a developing airport, further position the province as a regional hub.

During the dialogue, Lao Cai Vice Chairperson proposes the establishment of regular communication channels between both local governments and business communities, the strengthening of tourism promotion, adventure exchanges, and travel partnerships.

οΏ½The expansion of education cooperation, language training, and cultural exchanges to deepen people-to-people ties is proposed.

Both sides express optimism that the dialogue will lead to knowledge exchange, reciprocal visits, and a formalized partnershipβ€” reaffirming Danao City as a Gateway of Opportunities, building enduring ties that protect the environment, strengthen industry, and elevate tourism for generations to come.
