Sa Pa, Lao Cai Province, Vietnamβ€” The official delegation of Danao City pressed on with its tourism study mission through an on-site assessment of Lao Cai’s mountain attractions, in line with ongoing cooperation talks on environmental protection and tourism development.

After formal meetings with Sa Pa ward leaders, the delegation proceeded to Fansipan, the highest peak in Indochina at 3,147 meters above sea level.

While a cable car transports visitors to a primary station, the delegation undertakes a steep uphill climb on foot toward the summit navigating thinning air, dense fog, and temperatures that drops to as low as four degrees Celsius.

The trek provides firsthand exposure to the physical demands of highlands tourism, as well as to the site’s safety systems, visitor management strategies, and environmental safeguards designed to protect the mountain ecosystem.

The group also visits the elevated glass bridge attraction in the Sa Pa area, another high-altitude structure engineered for panoramic viewing and built with modern safety and load-bearing standardsβ€” an example of contemporary mountain tourism infrastructure.

Danao City, known for its five mountain peaks and expanding adventure sports tourism, shares similarities with Sa Pa in upland terrain and ecotourism potential.

β€œWe are thankful to Lao Cai for this exploration. This visit offers practical insights into highlands tourism concepts, infrastructure development, and sustainability practices that may be studied for possible adaptation in our mountain destinationsβ€” with Mt. Manghilao on the pipeline under DBM’s Green Green Program,” Mayor Nito Durano said.

The activity forms part of the broader engagement between Danao City and Lao Cai Province centered on environmental protection and community-based tourism.

Under the leadership of Mayor Nito Durano and Vice Mayor Ivy Durano, the city continues to pursue learning exchanges aligned with its vision as the Gateway of Opportunities.
