February 26, 2026 (Sa Pa, Lao Cai Province, Vietnam )— The Lao Cai People’s Committee formally welcomes the Official Delegation of Danao City at Sapa Ward Hall, marking a historic milestone in Danao’s expanding international cooperation on ecological protection and community-based tourism.

Leading the delegation are Danao City Mayor Nito Durano and Vice Mayor Ivy Durano, joined by the City Mayors Office and department heads from the City Planning and Development Office, City Tourism and Development Office, Barangay-Community Affairs Office, and City Information Office.

Receiving the delegation are Comrade Pham Tien Dung, Standing Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Sa Pa Ward, together with leaders of the Department of Culture–Society and the Department of Urban Infrastructure Economy.

Danao City— the Gateway of Opportunity in Northern Cebu — intensifies its commitment to ecological protection and community-based tourism, prompting the strategic visit to Lao Cai Province, widely recognized as a leader in both sectors.

During the meeting, both sides present their development strengths and exchange best practices on sustainable tourism, environmental protection, and preservation of cultural identity.

Sa Pa continues to affirm its position on the international tourism map, welcoming approximately 4.45 million visitors in 2025.

On the Philippine side, Danao City records strong initiative in green infrastructure and adventure tourism. It also continuously explores electric vehicle charging station project on Northern Cebu to support climate action, hosts an Investment Forum on economic recovery and digital transformation, and stages an International Ultra Trail Running Tournament to promote adventure tourism globally.

Leaders from both localities recognize shared priorities and similarities that pave the way for deeper cooperation. Both governments reaffirm their commitment to advancing tourism economies anchored on cultural preservation, ecological protection, and sustainable growth.

The Danao delegation is set to meet with Nguyen Thanh Sinh, Vice Chairperson of the Lao Cai People’s Committee, to further strengthen bilateral collaboration.

The working visit underscores Lao Cai’s globally recognized tourism and cultural experiences— from the iconic terraced rice fields and Fansipan peak in Sa Pa, to vibrant ethnic minority villages, spring festivals rich in heritage, and an infrastrucute system that connects and supports— offering models of sustainable, culture-centered tourism that Danao City seeks to learn from and adapt for its own growing ecotourism and adventure landscape— HERE AND NOW.
