January 31, 2026 — The opening of the Career Expo at Ramon Mercado Durano Foundation – Science and Technology Education Center (RMDF STEC) stands as more than an academic gathering; it affirms the City Government of Danao’s sustained commitment to preparing the youth for a future shaped by opportunity, competence, and character.
In his message of support, Mayor Nito Durano underscores Danao’s accelerating transformation into a gateway of opportunities, citing the recent opening of the largest multi-brand logistics and transport hub in the Visayas in Barangay Guinsay. Now hosting major national brands such as Jollibee and Mang Inasal, the development places Danao firmly within the national and global value chain, significantly expanding employment prospects for Danawanons and neighboring localities across the 5th District of Cebu.
The Career Expo, themed “Find Your Perfect Fit”, is officially brought to Danao City by the Department of Education–Regional Office VII, in partnership with DepEd Danao and the City Government. Learners from Liloan, Compostela, Danao City, Carmen, Catmon, and Bogo City converge at the STEC campus, transforming it into a dynamic space for informed career exploration, guidance, and aspiration-building.
According to DepEd Region VII, more than 150 learners participate on the opening day alone, with additional participants on Saturday. The exhibit further expands with the participation of Danao City colleges and higher education institutions, providing direct access to academic pathways and career options aligned with emerging labor market demands.
Mayor Durano reiterates the City Government’s continuing efforts to attract investments, position Danao as a future BPO hub, and pursue international partnerships, including programs that send Danawanon English teachers abroad.
These initiatives, he notes, are reinforced institutionally through the Danao City Education and Development Office, which advances the principle that scholarship programs must go beyond financial assistance and serve as genuine instruments of human development— producing graduates who are holistically excellent.
Addressing the students, the Mayor emphasizes that excellence and integrity remain indispensable values—qualities that may not always appear on a résumé but are consistently sought by employers, particularly in an increasingly digital and fast-evolving world.
“The future of Danao,” Mayor Durano stresses, “is a shared responsibility— of leaders, educators, communities, and most especially the youth.” As the Career Expo opens new doors and sharpens career choices, the message remains clear: an exciting future is within reach, and Danao is ready to walk that journey with its young generation.
