October 28, 2025 (Lawaan, Danao City)— The 18th Sangguniang Panlungsod of Danao City holds its 16th Regular Session offsite in Barangay Lawaan (20 km away from city proper) today, featuring Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano III’s first 100 Days Report, which highlights the administration’s early achievements and its continuing commitment to the Five-Point Connectivity Agenda.

In his report, Mayor Nito emphasizes the importance of connectivity— with the clientele, among economic drivers, between the executive and legislative branches, in governance, and through social services—  as the foundation of his seventh term as City Mayor.

Guided by this agenda, he details the local government’s progress across key areas including infrastructure development, health and social services, agriculture, tourism, and good governance. Mayor Nito begins by recognizing that the city’s accomplishments are made possible through teamwork and shared commitment among the heads of offices, the dedicated workforce of the local government, and the strong support of the Danawanon people.

He stresses that collaboration is the key to sustaining Danao’s growth, noting that every achievement reflects the collective effort of public servants and the community working hand in hand.

Among the milestones in his first 100 days are the launch of the Smiling City Hall Program, which promotes a more approachable and service-oriented public workforce; the activation of the improved Danao Naminaw Action Now mechanism to strengthen public assistance and complaints handling; and the expansion of health services through the DAYUNG Community Mobile Clinic, which has already delivered free medical, dental, and laboratory services straight to 33 barangays, benefiting more than 7,000 Danawanons.

Mayor Nito also commends the City Accounting and Internal Audit Services Office for earning commendations and awards that affirm the city’s commitment to transparent, accountable, and efficient fiscal management. This recognition, he says, showcases the city’s drive to uphold integrity and professionalism in governance—  a vital element of his good governance agenda.

He also notes a 4% increase in tax collection efficiency, with the City Treasurer’s Office collecting almost ₱220 million from July to September resulting from improved systems and stronger coordination among fiscal offices.

In terms of infrastructure, Mayor Nito reports that 22 out of 30 city projects initiated within his first 100 days are already completed, while major undertakings such as the new Danao City Public Market are now 60% finished.

The administration is also advancing the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) to guide sustainable growth and attract investments, while strengthening partnerships with local and international stakeholders and supporting MSMEs through the Business Permits and Licensing Office and the Danao City Investment and Promotions Center.

He further highlights the city’s strengthened assistance to farmers and fisherfolks through the City Agriculture Office; the creation of 42 Barangay Tourism Councils to boost community-based tourism; the planting of more than 8,600 trees citywide as part of its environmental protection efforts; and the improved disaster preparedness demonstrated by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office during the recent earthquake.

During the event, four upcoming infrastructure projects for Barangay Lawaan and nearby barangays are also announced — the Dungga Covered Court, Road Concreting Project in Barangay Magtagobtob, Drainage System with Concrete Pavement in Barangay Santican, and the Box Culvert Project in Barangay Lawaan. Mayor Nito Durano and Vice Mayor Ivy Durano lead the turnover of the Program of Works to the recipient barangays, marking another step toward improved local infrastructure and community development.

Meanwhile, the Sangguniang Panlungsod, led by Vice Mayor Carmen Remedios “Ivy” Durano, discusses key legislative measures and committee reports during the session. These include proposed ordinances on tourism accreditation, participatory governance through a People’s Council, the Ethics and Integrity Code for Public Servants, and the Transport and Mobility Regulation Code of Danao City. Other matters taken up include budget appropriations, infrastructure development, civil society participation, and environmental protection measures.

Vice Mayor Ivy also delivers a privilege speech highlighting the council’s legislative milestones and its close coordination with the executive department—  a clear reflection of the “Connectivity between the Executive and Legislative” component of Mayor Nito’s agenda.

Today’s first-ever offsite session, attended by residents and officials from nearby barangays, LGU department heads and employees, is part of the city government’s continuing effort to bring governance closer to the people.

Starting this year, the Sangguniang Panlungsod will hold quarterly offsite sessions in different barangays across Danao City— a program that embodies one of the key pillars of Mayor Nito’s 5-Point Connectivity Agenda— “connectivity with the clientele,” which seeks to strengthen engagement and transparency between the local government and the community.

In line with this vision, Mayor Nito also announces that he will begin holding weekly office hours in the city’s three satellite government offices located in Barangay Lawaan, Masaba, and Baliang, bringing along frontline offices to provide faster and more direct service delivery.

These satellite offices, which already house the Ayuda Office, CDRRMO Rescue 211, and the PNP, aim to make basic government services more accessible, especially for residents in upland and distant areas.

“As we continue to move forward, our goal remains clear— to make Danao City a first-class city, with first-class service and first-class quality of life for every Danawanon,” Mayor Nito Durano affirms. ///
