October 23, 2025- The City Government of Danao, led by Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano III and Vice Mayor Ivy Durano, proudly welcomed the officers and members of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Regional Office VII, the Association of Local Budget Officers in Central Visayas (ALBOCV, Inc.), and the Association of Local Budget Officers, Province of Cebu Chapter, Inc. during their Benchmarking Visit held on October 23, 2025.
The delegation chose Danao City as their benchmarking site to learn from its best practices in the implementation of the Electronic New Government Accounting System (eNGAS) and the eBudget System— areas where the city has earned regional and national recognition for promoting transparency, accountability, and innovation in local governance.
Led by City Accountant Jovinal Dagatan, together with City Treasurer Lorna Morales and City Budget Officer Evelyn Rezaldo, the team shared Danao’s journey in strengthening public financial management— a product of dedication, teamwork, and a shared vision for efficient service delivery.
Mayor Nito Durano expressed his gratitude to the visiting officers and praised the Local Finance Committee for setting the bar high in fiscal governance.
“With the help of our Local Finance Committee, we were able to withstand crisis after crisis and prove to the people that efficient leadership is our best political tool— leadership that is founded on the good of the people as the end goal of politics,” the Mayor said.

This benchmarking activity follows Danao City’s recent four major awards from the Government Financial Management Innovators Circle (GFMIC), Inc., a national organization promoting excellence in government accounting and budgeting.
Among the recognitions received were: •Hall of Fame Award for Electronic New Government Accounting System (eNGAS) and Electronic Budget (eBudget) System User Entity

These distinctions honor Danao’s timely and error-free financial reporting, its consistent compliance with Commission on Audit (COA) deadlines, and its successful grassroots implementation of the systems down to the barangay level— a testament to the city’s culture of good governance and operational excellence.
