Danao City Grind Fest Concludes its Second Edition

Danao City, Cebu (September 6, 2025) — The Danao City Grind Fest, the first-of-its-kind duo/team biking race in the Philippines, concludes its second edition with an electrifying display of endurance, teamwork and determination. Hailed as the biking capital of Cebu, Danao City once again welcomes cyclists from across the country to its scenic and challenging terrains: a mix of coastal roads, rolling hills and mountain trails, offering participants an authentic taste of the city’s natural beauty.

This year, 178 teams (356 riders) participate, surpassing last year’s 125 teams, as competitors take on multiple categories: 120 km (elite), 80 km (E-MTB/Gravel), 70 km and 30 km. The 120-kilometer route is recognized as the longest biking distance nationwide for a one-day event, cementing Grind Fest 2.0 as a premier cycling challenge in Central Visayas.

Mayor Nito Durano and former Mayor Mix Durano join the ride as 30 km challengers, showing full support for the event and inspiring fellow participants to push limits while enjoying Danao City’s stunning landscapes. Riders take on the trails early in the morning, with the 120 km elite category starting at 4:00 AM, the 80 km and 70 km waves at 5:00 AM, and the 30 km riders at 6:00 AM.

Part of the city’s month-long fiesta celebration, the Danao City Grind Fest 2.0 underscores the city’s commitment to sports adventure tourism, community spirit and promoting a healthy lifestyle. Riders from all over the country gather not just to compete but to experience Danao’s unique trails, camaraderie and vibrant cycling culture.

This year’s race offers exciting prizes, including a total cash prize of ₱700,000.00 across categories. In the 120KM Open Elite Men, Open Elite Women, and Open Elite Mixed categories, champions take home ₱50,000.00, second-place winners receive ₱30,000.00, and third-place finishers earn ₱20,000.00. Finishers also receive exclusive belt buckles and shirts, while top three winners per category raise uniquely designed 3D trophies, symbolizing prestige in the local biking community.

Vice Mayor Ivy Durano expresses her heartfelt thanks to the supporters and partners who made the event possible, and congratulates all the riders for making it to the finish line. She hopes that their support continues not only this year but also in the years to come, as the city looks forward to sustaining and growing this premier cycling event, HERE AND NOW.
