The City Government of Danao officially welcomes Daigo Town, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan as its newest Friendship City Partner, joining its growing circle of Japanese sister and friendship cities: Namegata, Kashima, and Yokohama.

The visiting delegation from Daigo Town is led by Mayor Tetsuhiko Takanashi, accompanied by its Superintendent of Education Hiroaki Sato, Board of Education Chief Daisuke Suzuki, Secretary Marina Kamoshita, and Achievegoal Director Shogo Kawabata. Their official visit strengthens the bilateral relationship rooted in mutual respect and shared goals in education, culture, and governance.

The visit begins with a welcome lunch at Tawsan Mangrove Forest Ecopark, followed by inspiring school visits at Colegio de San Antonio de Padua and the Ramon M. Durano Sr. Foundation – Science and Technology Education Center (RMDSF–STEC). It culminates in a formal meeting at Danao City Hall with local officials led by Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano III and Vice Mayor Carmen Remedios Ivy Durano.

The meeting marks the face-to-face formalization of the Friendship City Partnership between Danao and Daigo, following the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) earlier this April when Mayor Nito Durano personally delivered the signed MOA to Daigo Town.

“Danao City is venturing and taking advantage on the leverage of building a lasting relationship with both the public and private sectors. Fostering inclusive growth by learning from other cities’ experiences and jumpstart progress based on actual development models from other areas and places whether local and international,” says Mayor Durano.

The City Government of Danao continues to champion international cooperation through its sisterhood and friendship city partnership programs, making Danao a globally engaged, opportunity-driven and future-ready city, HERE AND NOW.
