Danao City, Cebu– The streets of Danao City came alive today as 2,078 runners participated in the 46th Halad Kang Mano Amon Run, making it one of the largest turnouts in the event’s history. Known as the second-longest road race in Cebu, next only to the Milo Marathon, this annual race solidifies its legacy as a major sporting event in the province that continues to uphold a legacy that has kept Cebu running strong.
Held on December 22, 2024, at Plaza Mano Amon, the race continues to honor the vision of the late Ramon “Mano Amon” M. Durano Sr., who established the event to promote sportsmanship and develop competitive runners in Cebu. The event is also part Danao City’s roadmap, under the leadership of Mayor Mix Durano and Vice Mayor Nito Durano, which emphasizes an active lifestyle while positioning the city as a premier destination for adventure sports tourism.
This year’s run featured three distance categories: 3K and 6K for residents and city hall employees, and 12K for the open category. Runners from across Cebu and beyond, including participants from other countries, joined the event. From students to professional athletes, the turnout highlighted the race’s growing reputation and appeal.
The increase in participation is notable compared to last year’s 45th edition, which recorded 853 runners. This year, more than double the number of participants hit the streets of Danao City, reflecting the race’s expanding reach and significance.
